The Power Of One

Never underestimate the power of one: the ability of a single person – you, to effect change.
This video is meant to stand on its own today – it pretty much says much of what I want to say.

Individuals throughout history have effected massive changes, great inventions and improved services when the odds were against them, the task very daunting, and everyone saying it won’t work. They simply used that as motivation to power ahead.
Think of Martin Luther King, Jr, Marie Curie, Mahatma Ghandi, Thomas Edison, Florence Nightingale, Henry Ford. Go ahead and read their biographies – you will find inspiration and motivation in them, and use their stories as a model in some area of your life.

Sara Blakely is the youngest female billionaire from her invention of Spanx and underwear. Read her story and where an idea and persistence has brought her.
Also Ryan Blair – who had founded SIX multimillion dollar companies by the time he was thirty. According to him, at 19, he had nothing to lose and gave it his all. And read the story of J.K.Rowling – the first billionaire author, moving from rags to multimillionaire status in 5 years.

As a leader, you also have a responsibility to your team – they keep you in business! They will be there to take up the slack that you can’t or won’t do, areas that you may not be your core competence – after all, you can’t do it all. You can’t repair your computer when it malfunctions if you are a marketer – you probably don’t know how, and it is most certainly not the best use of your time.
Nurture your team, engage them in your vision and nurture them. If they cannot see purpose & growth, and can’t engage with you, the leader, they’ll fall away like ice-cream melting in the hot sun.

Most leaders are not born – they are moulded out of the environment they find themselves along with the desire to assume the responsibilities of a leader. It is a skill that you can learn, and well worth it.

Mindset For Success

“All that we are is a result of what we have thought”
Buddha

You can find numerous variations of this quotation all over the place. The tendency of a lot of people is to dismiss it, and anything that discusses requiring a certain mindset for success, as too “woo woo”. Who cares, especially if it works?

Realize that the wealthy do extraordinary things to get there – and I don’t mean struggling harder than the average person. If they have a certain mindset, and all the ones I speak to have a mindset that is quite different from the average person, wouldn’t you want to to know about it, copy and paste?
Try asking anyone successful you know about the important factors in their success – they will mostly tell you freely, but most are not interested enough to ASK!

What is your reaction when you see that beautiful car, that fabulous home, someone taking a private flight? If it is envy or dismissal, you are so not in the right space! You are effectively taking yourself out of the game before it even began. Your unconscious will not allow you to have those things because you have trashed them! Why would anyone give you a gift if they overheard you belittling it?

Place yourself in a space of gratitude and when you see or hear of something nice (and it does not have to be your taste or anything you want, just that it is really nice) send blessings to the person with it. Those same blessings will come your way soon. You are developing a mindset for success.

A couple of personal examples: I love walking through neighbourhoods and looking at great homes, and I love great cars. I love that people are living their dreams.
I had placed pictures of them on my vision board and continued along my merry way. Some friends thought it was a bit of a joke!
Fast forward a few years – I now have a lovely warm home, and I suddenly realized one day that the car I had was even better than the pic on the vision board (same burgundy color that I love though). And I now have 2 higher end cars, the second I use in summer, courtesy of my network marketing company. It pretty much “just happened”! The effort for all of this was not that much more than anything else I had done. The opportunity was there and I took it.

This is a longer video and post than usual, but is that important. The purpose of this blog is to share the information that will take you to greatness.
I would love to see you all successful – whatever that means for you. What do you think? Leave me a comment below.

Solution Based Learning

There is so much information on just about everything out there, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed.
Paraphrasing what Napoleon Hill said in his great book, Think and Grow Rich: It is not  knowledge that creates wealth, it is the application of knowledge: the things you actually do with that knowledge.

That is why you have all those wonderful buildings with huge libraries & reams of research, filled with incredibly knowledgeable academics. Have you noticed people don’t get paid based on the amount of knowledge they possess, but for what they actually  DO  with what they have?

Knowledge for its own sake may get you a job, but is unlikely to make you wealthy. Dr Phil is probably not the best psychologist in the world, but he is one of the best paid and wealthiest – because he has APPLIED his knowledge and is well paid for doing that.

With just about anything you want available at your fingertips from a computer search, you can see why it is of no real benefit to pay a premium to anyone for it UNLESS they deliver something beyond that.

With that in mind, please don’t fall into the trap of just reading or attending courses/events and calls just to learn some more about whatever it is that interests you. There are so many things out there tempting you into thinking that once you know all about xyz, the money will flow, as you are now an expert. Not so fast! I’m a life long learner, but more important than just learning is what I do with what I have learned. Expertise comes from action and application of what you have learned.

The best bang for your buck when it comes to learning is to have a solution focused approach, the object being to be able to take action with what you learn.

Which Road To Success

To be successful is everyone’s birthright! Unfortunately, many do not know how to go about it and lack necessary tools for the journey. Which road to success are you on?
Knowing that you will never have a true goal that you cannot achieve will give you the confidence to start planning!

Since there are many ways to do anything or go anywhere, doesn’t it make sense to choose the most efficient route? That would mean the best and easiest that you can find.
Bar none, the best way to get anywhere is to copy (model) someone who has done the same thing or get a coach/mentor. There are very few goals that are so totally out there, you won’t have some component that someone else has done or gone through.
Doesn’t it make sense to shorten that learning curve dramatically and get a mentor or coach?

I have coaches and mentors for different areas and stages of my life. When I wanted to create an online business, I had no idea of that arena – I looked around and got a coach for that particular purpose!

Result? In a few short weeks, my site has gone from nowhere on the radar, to the top 2.26 million sites in the entire world! When I started, it gradually moved from the 5 million mark, to 4 million, then to 3.5 million, and has been steadily reaching more readers like you! And there is still so much more I will be doing to make sure that my passion to help my readers with their success and business journey gets to as many as possible.

My wish for you is to discover your passion and purpose and go for it with gusto!
Success with the right plan of action is within your reach – reach out for it!

Success Leaves Clues

I want to share today why I started this blog. In the process of sharing, it gives me further insights into myself, my motives and what I do, and helps my continue to grow!

I am a life-long learner and do-er, so pretty much anything that takes me to a higher plane of evolving, I will look into. I love helping people – have done all my life, and this affords me an opportunity to help many more people.

You’ll see the shaky start from the first blog post, then the first video – I’m hoping to share this part of my success journey in the online world to illustrate how I got to where I am and what I do to take me to my new goals.

Offline or online, there are some common elements to success – they don’t really change. How they are applied will vary from one person to the other. Once you know what the essentials are, you can personalize it to suit you.

It’s a bit like cooking, which I enjoy. I used to think making a risotto was difficult. Then I found a lovely picture (I’m very visual – prefer cookbooks with pics) of a risotto dish, and made it exactly as it described. As I made it the first time, I noticed there were certain points that could not be messed with, others could be adjusted a little or a lot. The next time I made it with a change in veggies.

By the third time, I was winging it, I had grown in confidence to make it without a recipe by my side and got great compliments all the way to Peru!
Someone in Peru had heard of my risotto long before they met me! I had now adapted a successful risotto recipe to suit me!
I did not have to start by making it all up – I had a great picture with the recipe to start off with. I then followed the recipe exactly, which showed me where I could adapt it to suit me better. If you follow that simple principle, you’ll be fine.

It all goes back to knowing what your goal is, and getting a mentor or coach to shorten the process – LEVERAGE!

4 Simple Steps To Develop Persistence

Here I am in busy Lagos traffic – persistence in itself! Lagos is a glorious city, the financial capital of Lagos. Depending on who you listen to, it has a population of up to 11 million! That’s a lot of people on the roads and just about everywhere else.

I had an important business meeting, and had left Ibadan at 6 am, to be sure to be there for 10 am – I just made it! Being punctual is a lifelong habit for me, and is an important asset, particularly in business. How can you project your reliability and consistency when you start by showing up late? These are simple subliminal clues to help stack the deck in your favour – take it, its free!

Go through the steps outlined in the video – they are so simple, yet profound in its effectiveness. By definition, persistence ALWAYS pays off! If you keep on going, you will reach your destination/goal.
It is persistence that pays off when a baby moves from crawling to walking. They don’t give up at the first, second or tenth attempt. They simply do it again until they get it – no big drama most of the time, neither does the thought of not attempting to walk, being satisfied with crawling ever enter the equation. They see people around them walking, and the baby wants to do so, no matter how many times they fall.

Take that vision of a baby wanting to move from crawling to walking, along with the 4 simple steps described in the video – you’ll be UNSTOPPABLE!

Storytelling And Business

What has storytelling and business got to do with each other? How do you engage with your audience – especially for your business?
Most people have a business persona, which is stiffer and more reserved than they are in normal life.
However, if there is anything that the massive popularity of social media and the Millennials are teaching us, it is that there is little, if any, separation between your different spheres of activity, be it business or personal. Your customers/clients want to know that you are a person with feelings. They want to see if they can relate to you.

What better way to engage with people and let them know who you are by telling them the story, the surroundings of what you are doing? It’s like painting a picture. Of course, don’t make things up or stretch things to impress. Be authentic and truthful, and tell your story to  suit the situation.

By telling the story of your business properly, you have engaged several senses of your audience at the same time: visual, auditory and kinaesthetic (your gestures). We all fall into one of these three categories, or a mixture of them. Most people are largely visual, but a significant number belong to the other groups – why would you want to leave them out?

I have to tell you – anytime I have told my story and the motivation behind it, the people I have spoken to have a far deeper understanding than when I leave it out. I used to think that it was not relevant and maybe even sappy to do so – not any longer! My presentations are now built with my story as a core feature, and we are having major successes from it.

What do you think? Try it out and let me know how it goes!

Anything Is Possible!

You’ve heard the old saying: Anything is Possible, but may not actually believe it.
Belief is key in manifesting whatever you desire, either consciously or subconsciously.
If you don’t believe it will happen, it probably never will.

From Henry Ford – he should know:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right”

Although we say we believe in possibilities, for most it is not true – the belief is that some things are possible, but others are simply not so – they don’t even enter the realm of miracles.
A person with a truly open mind believes in Infinite Possibilities

– ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

How about you? Start being believing in the possible. That anything is possible, then expand that from the things you are fairly certain of, to the things that are much less obvious. Test it, and watch for small things to happen. Intent and Belief are powerful components of manifestation. There are NO LIMITS.

Another quote, this time from Napoleon Hill in that fantastic book (Think and Grow Rich) which you simply should buy and read. The title says Think, not Work Hard and Grow Rich. That in itself should give you a huge clue! It was written after 20 years of studying massively successful people including Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and a whole host of others.

“What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.”

Your Mindset And Success

How do you think of Success?
Is it something that is so far out of you reach, it is unfathomable?
Or… do you see yourself as successful – the rest of the world has just not caught up to it?

Most people who are not yet successful discount or actually ignore mindset. They want to get to the heart of what they feel they need to do – the nuts and bolts. In the online world, we get concerned with copywriting, capture pages, content submission and syndication, backlinks, auto-responders and whatever else one feels they need to add to the already long list of technical stuff they just have to master.

And when you talk to successful people, they will tell you that even more important than all that stuff is your mindset.
I know this from personal experience, as well as my readings and talking to other successful people. Some may have enjoyed a modicum of success, but it was grinding. They became truly successful when they addressed their mindset – they got out of a competitive and scarcity mindset into one of personal excellence, service and abundance, as well as gratitude for what they have in the now, all the while taking action towards their goals.

You discover you are not running a hundred miles a minute on the same spot – you are striding purposefully towards your goal – you know you will reach it, it’s just a matter of time!
Your success will take as long as it needs to – as long as you are taking action towards it.
In the meantime, see yourself as the successful person you already are.

Being Decisive Shapes Success

How quick are you in making decisions? Do you procrastinate for so long, there is a large queue behind you at the checkout counter? If so, what was going through your mind?
It is usually due to a fear of some sort – fear of making the wrong choice or decision, fear of criticism, fear of not being perfect etc.
You are being ruled by your fears and leads to confusion!

When you opt to be neutral, you are being chicken – taking the easy way out, which is no way to do anything well. You are being ruled by fear. Stop that and step up to the plate. Take a position and you can move on to other things.

Do you know any successful person who is slow in making decisions? Or even worse, doesn’t make a choice? No-one would remain successful for long if they were indecisive – in fact, I don’t think they will be successful in the first place.

Being decisive goes hand in hand with taking responsibility for your decisions – they will mostly turn out to be right, but if they turn out to be wrong, so be it. If you are so afraid of being wrong, know that you can’t ever be successful.

When you hesitate, you lose the moment of maximum opportunity – it’s slim to no pickings afterwards – the decisive people, the action takers have already acted and are well ahead.
If you live in fear of taking risks, your success will be inversely proportional (sometimes exponential) to the degree of your fear, in other words, diminishing sharply.

Make a definite and quick decision and stand by it: that is one of the marks of a true leader.

“The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.”
~ John F Kennedy: paraphrasing Dante’s Inferno
